Exit planning advisors conference gives Hutchinson Family Offices invaluable knowledge to help maximize client’s valuation

GREENSBORO, N.C. (June 14, 2023) – For Sherry Campbell, CEO of Hutchinson Family Offices, a trip to Scottsdale, Arizona, and the annual Certified Exit Planning Advisors Conference has proven invaluable.

“I felt like I got a lot of additional knowledge I didn’t have prior. I met additional professionals in the field (exit planning) that can support our firm and its clients,” said Campbell.

Campbell, a certified exit planning advisor, leads the Hutchinson team working with families to enhance family business capital and protect assets to provide multi-generational wealth.

The two-day Scottsdale conference offered a unique platform for attendees to exchange ideas, learn from industry leaders, and stay informed about the latest trends and strategies in exit planning.

Campbell said she attended the seminar “because you want other professionals that have the depth of experience in the valuation and tax of an estate planning. 

“We learned a lot of creative techniques and solutions that we had not previously heard from local professionals.”

The two-day conference was jam-packed with seminars and breakouts for case-study work, Campbell said. She also spent a great deal of time visiting with the many vendors onsite that provide services to companies like Hutchinson Family Offices.

“I feel like we have a lot of resources that assist clients, but now we will know when and how to bring in other solutions,” said Campbell. “We will be able to match the client to the provider that best fits.”

Campbell said as an aging population increases the number of people exiting their business, the demand for exit strategies with the maximum value is growing. And, she says, it is a process many do not understand.

“Often, they (clients) come to us after they have made a decision that cost them lots of money. A business has a range of values,” said Campbell. “They don’t understand there are a lot of ways to structure a sale to maximize their net.

“The first step is to increase the value enhancement. The next stage is finding the appropriate buyer. It is a long process to work on the valuation and then match a buyer.”
